Quincy’s two service districts aren’t likely to consolidate in the near future. But an engineer’s report recommended they join forces to tackle the valley’s wastewater treatment problem.

Family suing county over inadequate A&D services
The family of a woman who died of a drug overdose is suing Plumas County for half a million dollars.
The lawsuit claims the county was negligent and failed to perform mandatory duties by not providing adequate alcohol and drug services.

School board meets Wednesday evening in Quincy
Items related to school closure sprinkled throughout agenda
When the governing board of Plumas Unified School District meets Wednesday evening, Feb. 8, in the multi-purpose room at Quincy Elementary School, 246 Alder Street in Quincy, it will take up a number of issues related to proposed school closures.
Although the meeting is scheduled to start at 5 p.m., because it follows the Plumas County Office of Education board meeting, it may begin later.

Chester 7-11 meeting off, now on again
The Chester 7-11 Committee’s meeting scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 7, 6 p.m. at the Chester High School library, was off again and now on again following misunderstandings about posting requirements for the public meeting.

Officials search for missing Janesville man
Law enforcement agencies and search and rescue teams from Lassen and Plumas counties have launched an in-depth search for Richard Earl Welton, 54, of Janesville. He was last seen Jan. 19. He is six feet tall and weighs 210 pounds. Jan. 31, 2012 — Law enforcement officials from Lassen and Plumas County as well as both counties search and rescue teams are putting together an in-depth search for Richard Earl Welton, 54, a Janesville man last seen around Jan. 19.

Public says: Don’t close Quincy El; Sheriff wants to build jail near Pioneer
One hundred citizens spoke with one unified voice at the first public forum of the Quincy school closure committee. The message to the so-called 7-11 committee Thursday, Jan. 26, was direct and unanimous: Do not close Quincy Elementary School.
Among the strongest voices was that of Plumas County Sheriff Greg Hagwood. He told the assembly that he planned to build the county’s new jail “a few hundred yards north” of Pioneer Elementary School, the school district’s preferred site for a consolidated K – six campus.
