Winter damage at treatment plant holds up the show

     The Lake Davis Treatment Plant was supposed to begin water testing in June and be online for the city of Portola in August. That was June and August of last year, not this year.  

A year later, water testing and the first flushes of water down the pipeline have not begun, halted by frozen pipes, cracked pumps and valves that didn’t make it through that first cold spell in December.

David Alexander, 56, of Greenville suffered minor burns to his back when the motor home he was driving caught fire around 5 p.m. Monday, May 3.
 

Prescribed burn in Meadow Valley

Firefighters from the Mt. Hough Ranger District will continue prescribed burning on the Meadow Valley project today, May 7.  The location is across from Lowell Bader Park in Meadow Valley, between Deanes Valley Rd. FS 24N29 and Massey Creek Rd and near Bucks Lake Rd..  It is anticipated the project will be completed today.
 
 

Judge rules in favor of petitioners

A judge ruled this afternoon in favor of tax limitation petitioners, granting their request for an injunction to keep Plumas District Hospital from selling more bonds, moving the tax limitation initiative election up from November to August, and disallowing PDH's ballot label language. Quincy fire chief suffers heart attack

Quincy Fire Chief Robbie Cassou was airlifted to Reno’s Renown Hospital Saturday, May 1, after suffering a heart attack. He was at the fire station preparing for a day of training with the Fire Academy when the attack occurred.
