County office of education approves layoffs

The regular meeting of the Plumas County Office of Education is usually pro forma - over and done in 15 minutes. Not so March 9, when Superintendent Glenn Harris and Assistant Superintendent Bruce Williams, who is responsible for personnel matters, presented a resolution of intent to dismiss 5.83 full-time equivalent faculty positions.

Feds agree to allow sale of Wildwood to Plumas

Plumas County Community Development Commission Executive Director David Keller told his board at a Tuesday, March 17, meeting that he recently received a pleasant surprise in the form of a U.S. Department of Agriculture memo, which he took as a sign the Wildwood Village project would move forward.

Taste of Plumas tickets disappearing fast

Schools open Thursday and on schedule

All schools in the Plumas Unified School District are open Thursday and starting on schedule, the only chain requirement at this time is in the town of Chester.

Sinkhole at Kinder Avenue and Greenville Wolf Creek Road has county road and community services district employees baffled today, Friday, March 19. Although they have not yet found the cause, road crew foreman John Dobrinen is sure they will have Kinder open again by nightfall. For more information, see next week's Indian Valley Record.
