Battle brews over ballot language for PDH measure

    Plumas District Hospital filed two resolutions with the county clerk’s office Thursday, April 15, calling for a special election in which voters will decide whether to cap the hospital tax at $50 per $100,000 assessed value.
    The resolutions, passed at the April 1 board meeting, appear to pave the way for the hospital district’s special election to be consolidated with the Nov. 2 General Election.

   Candidates for District 5 supervisor, sheriff and county assessor have been invited to the forums being held by the League of Women Voters of Plumas County Monday, April 26, in Quincy and Thursday, April 29, in Portola. Forums will begin at 7 p.m. at the Quincy library meeting room and at the Portola Memorial Hall.

Seventh annual Spring Concert - High Sierra Community-Youth Orchestra

    Plumas Arts and Face the Music Studio have announced the seventh annual Spring Concert of the High Sierra Community Youth Orchestra at the Quincy Elementary School cafeteria Sunday, May 2. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the concert starts at 6:30 p.m.
    The concert is a fundraiser for Plumas Arts and the orchestra, and the proceeds will purchase music for the 2010–2011 orchestra season. Donations are $5 per person or $12 a family.

    Wells Fargo and Company stage driver Charlie Seevy drew his stage to a halt amid a cloud of swirling dust as the masked, shotgun-wielding bandit blocked his path on the Quincy to Oroville Road and demanded, “Driver, throw out the box!” Seevy quickly complied — unloading the Wells Fargo box and mail pouches the stage was carrying — then driving on as ordered.
