Seventh lion killed, this one in Rush Creek

Rush Creek, not far as the crow flies from Indian Valley, was the scene Thursday, March 22, of another in a series of lion killings.

This makes the seventh lion killed in Plumas County since the long stretch of dry weather turned in late January.

Did Forest Service employee Caleb Lief get caught peeing on his feet and smoking pot while on duty at the Red Rock Lookout the day the Moonlight Fire started, Labor Day 2007?

Correctional leaders blast county officials

Local criminal justice officials, tasked with implementing Assembly Bill 109, blasted county leaders last week for what the officials consider to be a lack of support and unnecessary roadblocks.

“It’s a disgrace,” Superior Court Judge Ira Kaufman said. “We take two steps forward and three steps back all the time. Right now it’s just business as usual in the county. And it’s a very expensive way to do business.”

Sixth lion killed in Genesee

Blood and gore and the blank stares of his baby and adult goats is what greeted Genesee youth Paul Astles when he went to do his chores in the barn before school Monday, March 12.

It was a full-scale slaughter of kids and adults.

“It was a mess in there,” said a fellow rancher who saw it.
