A 33-year-old Greenville man is in a coma following a Sept. 8 incident that is still under investigation.
Jarold Hovland is listed in critical condition at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.

More Plumas County residents rely on food stamps than ever before.
In a continued sign of the depressed economic times, 622 households received food stamp assistance in May. The average household is comprised of roughly three people.

PSREC finds ways to meet changing needs

State inmate transfer focus of Quincy townhall meeting
Members of the Plumas County Community Corrections Partnership Executive Committee will host a townhall meeting Wednesday, Sept. 28, at the Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds in Quincy.
The 7 p.m. meeting in Serpilio Hall will address Assembly Bill 109: California’s Prison Realignment Bill.

Grant funds entrepreneurial program at FRC
Feather River College Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) members have partnered with Plumas Unified School District, Plumas Bank and the county’s chambers of commerce to bring the Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour to Feather River College Thursday, Sept. 29, 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Amy Schulz, SIFE adviser and director for Workforce Innovation Partnership – Youth Entrepreneurship at FRC, said Thursday’s event is about building entrepreneurial pathways for high school and college students, age 14 – 27.
