   These are the stories we are working on for this week's newspaper:
  • Image makeover needed: In the soon-to-be-released grand jury report, the jurors said the county’s Alcohol and Drug and Mental Health departments are suffering from a poor public image.
  • Help at the jail: The Board of Supervisors approved the sheriff’s request to hire four corrections officers, but not before reminding him the county is facing a $3 million budget problem.
  • Water disaster?: The state has already enacted emergency conservation measures. The county is thinking about declaring a local disaster as well.

Dale Snook to Assume the VSO Position Thursday

Dale Snook has agreed to assume the role of Veterans Service Officer until a permanent replacement is found for Sheryl Austin. Austin leaves that position next week. Snook's office will be located in Public Health offices in the Health and Services Building in Quincy. A formal appointment is expected by the Board of Supervisors at their meeting on December 7.

Weather advisory in effect for western Plumas County

Winter weather advisory remains in effect until 10 am pst monday above 5000 feet, A winter weather advisory above 5000 feet remains in effect until 10 am pst Monday. Snow accumulations: 3 to 6 inches of new snow accumulation are expected above 5000 feet, with up to a foot above 7000 feet by Monday morning.

Off Highway vehicle access advocates grill Forest Service on OHV plan

The Plumas National Forest addressed questions from the Sierra Access Coalition about its travel management plan at a recent open house.

It would be an understatement to say the majority of people attending the meeting, most of whom appeared to be SAC members or sympathizers, were not pleased with the Forest Service’s final draft of the PNF travel management plan.
