Lake Almanor Women’s Golf Club
Aug. 30’s game was “Best Three Balls out of the Foursome.”
The team of Julie Azevedo, Carolyn Willhoit, Donna Huhn and Shirley Friedrichs won the pot.
Sept. 6, we played “Low Net & Low Putts.”
Karen Nelson won the pot for Low Putts.
Charlene Ferguson was the sole winner of the chip-in pot.
The first flight winner was Carolyn Willhoit with a 69. The second place winner was Lori Sinclair with a 72
Whitehawk Ranch Ladies Golf Club News
On Tuesday, Sept. 4, the Whitehawk Ranch Ladies Golf Club had its September “Ace of Aces” qualifying round. Diane Romig was the Gross Winner and Judy Miller won Low Net. Judy also scored an exciting eagleon the 5 par, No. 8 Hole; the Ladies No. 1 handicap hole, so that was quite an accomplishment. Congratulations, Judy!
Diane and Judy are now eligible to play Tuesday, Sept. 18, in the “Ace of Aces” Finals Tournament; along with monthly qualifiers: Sharon Russell, Arline Simpson, Laurie McKenzie, Patty McNamara, Marcia Zeigler, Lynn Smith, Mary Ann Crowe, Cassie McNamara and Chris Hyatt. Happy golfing.
Plumas Pines Women’s Golf Club
On Tuesday, Sept. 4, the Plumas Pines Women’s Golf Club played the final round of the club championship. Participants placed as follows: first, Renee Walker; second, Mary Stonebraker; third, Cathy Cianciolo; fourth, Scooter Kidwell; fifth, Janet Grijalva; sixth, Jackie Luckey and seventh, Shirley Agnos.
The winners of the regular Tuesday game were: Low Gross, Renee Walker with 93; Low Net, first, Janet Grijalva with 70; second, Mary Blaylock with 72; third, Nancy Bartlett with 74. Mary Blaylock scored two chip-ins for the day.
On Wednesday, Sept. 5, PPWGC held an inaugural Mad Hatter tournament. It was very well attended and the array of hat creations was incredible. Fun prizes were awarded at the potluck lunch that followed the game.
Graeagle Meadows Women’s Golf Club
The Graeagle Meadows Women’s Golf Club played the last qualifier round of its Ace of Aces competition Aug. 30. The low gross qualifier was Susan Weise and the low net winner was Annie Fischer. In the first flight, Bev Reynolds won for low gross score. Winning low net was Susan Wiese with Kathy Sipel and Carol Miller tying for second place.
Debbie Peterson won for low gross in the second flight. Lorraine Cornish won for low net. JoAnn Lake and Dee Walker tied for second place low net. In the third flight Annie Fischer won for low gross. Renee Gielow won first place low net with Giuliana Glazer coming in second. The Ace of Aces playoff will be Thursday, Sept. 27.
Mt. Huff Wednesday Morning Scramble
Great day! There was a good turnout for the Mt. Huff Wednesday Morning Scramble Sept. 5.
The first place team members Jim Bryant, Bill McRoberts, Greg Stevens and Mike Ingle scored nine under.
In second place was the team of Barbara Quam, Ron Christensen and Gary Metzdorf.
Closest to the pin award went to Jerry Quam.
There was no chip-in winner.
Mt. Huff Thursday Night Scramble
Finally, on Aug. 30, the Thursday Night Scrambles had a smoke-free perfect night for golf. The temperature was ideal for the seven teams that hit the links.
There was a tie for first at 5-under but after a chip-off the team of Darel and Margie Joseph and Lynn and Gary McClellan came in first. Second place went to Greg Stevens, Don and Amanda Sheffield and Bob McIlroy, third place went to Mike and Cheryl Ingle, Chuck Thrall and Butch Back.
The longest drive went to David Smuts and closest to the pin was Chuck Thrall.
The nights will be long enough for the scrambles for a while so if you haven’t been, come on out. The course is in great condition and the view can’t be beat
