Mt. Huff Wednesday Morning Scramble
We’ve got a chill in the morning air and a beautiful blue sky! The weather couldn’t be better for golf.
The Wednesday morning scramble Sept. 12 got off to a great start.
First-place team members were Don McConnell, Ted Trafton and Mike Ingle.
In second place was the team of Ron Christensen, Gary Metzdorf and Jim Bryant.
Closest to the pin was taken by Darel Joseph, while a tie for the chip-in contest was won by Ted Trafton and Darel Joseph.
With this fine late summer weather that we have been enjoying, it’s a great time to join us on Wednesday mornings!
Whitehawk Ranch Ladies Golf Club News
On Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 11 and 12, the Whitehawk Ranch Ladies Golf Club held its Club Championship (Gross) and Captain’s Cup (Net) Tournament.
The 2012 club champion was Marcia Zeigler and the 2012 Captain’s Cup winner was Diane Romig. Sharon Russell and Laurie McKenzie captured second and third place, respectively, in the Club Championship.
In the Captain’s Cup Division, Arline Simpson secured second place with Lynn Smith taking third place.
It was “picture perfect” weather at Whitehawk Ranch for the two-day event. All of the participants had a great time and look forward to another month of fun golfing with their Whitehawk Ranch Ladies Club friends before the season ends Oct. 21. Happy golfing.
In other WRLGC news,out ofproceeds collected at the annual Sadie Hawkins event,a donation to EPCAN in the amount of $290 was presented to EPCAN Board Member, Cathie Homer. The check, plus our food donations, were very much appreciated by EPCAN.
Plumas Pines Women’s Golf Club
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Plumas Pines Women’s Golf Club played a two-person team, best net ball format. The winning teams were: first place, Mary Peters and Mary Blaylock – net 60; second place, Janet Grijalva and Renee Walker – net 62; tied for third place were Nancy Bartlett and Diane Trainor with Lorraine Cornish and Jackie Luckey – net 63. No chip-ins were scored.
Two foursomes from PPWGC participated in the Table Mountain Invitational at Oroville Thursday, Sept. 13: Jan Pierce, Shirley Agnos, Mary Stonebraker, Janet Grijalva, Toni Conen, Mary Peters, Mary Blaylock and Cathy Cianciolo.
The team of Pierce, Stonebraker, Agnos and Conen placed third in its flight. Jan Pierce also won second place closest to the pin. It was an all-around fun trip.
Mt. Huff Thursday Evening Scramble
Thursday night, Sept. 13, saw a perfect evening for our world-famous Thursday night scramble. Several teams took to the course with the team of Gary and Carol Metzdorf, Greg Stevens and David Smuts coming in first at 4 under. Ron Ridge, Jim Bryant, Paul Egan and Joe Pogue came in a close second at 3 under.
The longest drive went to Slammin’ Joe Pogue and closest to the pin was Eagle Eye Leaf Van Pelt. A great time was had by all as usual and the evenings should stay long enough until the middle of October.
