Portola fire extinguished
The evacuation center that had been established at Portola City Hall is no longer needed, as all residents have been allowed to return to their homes. Fire crews put out the fire that threatened the mobile home park and are now in the mop-up stage. It is believed that the fire destroyed only one outbuilding.
The City of Portola is setting up an evacuation center at city hall for residents of a trailer park that is being threatened by a fire.
According to a city spokesperson, a vegetation fire started on the Riverwalk behind Napa Auto Parts, and is advancing toward the park.
The trailer park has been evacuated. Fire crews from throughout Eastern Plumas, as well as the Forest Service are helping Portola Fire battle the blaze.
