75 YEARS AGO..........1937 

A free rodeo will be held at the Langhorst Ranch in Sloat Sunday and will include steer, cow and calf roping, greased pig catchng, a baseball game, frog races and tug 'o war. In addition there will be ducks, geese and chickens to shoot for. Bring your own hunting guns and ammunition. 

 

 

50 YEARS AGO..........1962 

The worst October storm in history of the area, with record breaking rainfall of more than 17 inches and winds of up to 80 miles per hour, hit Plumas County last week. Many trees were uprooted and blown across roads and highways throughout Plumas County. 

 

25 YEARS AGO..........1987 

A house north of Chester once known as the Lee Ranch Hotel burned to the ground before USFS engines could respond. The historic structure, furniture and other antiques dating back to the turn of the century were lost. 

 

10 YEARS AGO..........2002 

The freshly paved Graeagle-Johnsville Road speed limits have been changed from 25 mph to 35 mph and will be monitored by California Highway Patrol radar.  

Hollywood director and cinematographer AndrjezBartkowiak was arrested by Plumas County Sheriffs at Canyon Dam and booked in Plumas County jail for reckless driving and excessive speed in his 2002 Porsche. He was involved in the movies Lethal Weapon, Terms of Endearment and ironicallly, Speed.
