A Friday, Nov. 16, power outage in the Quincy area was caused by vandalism, according to the electric company.
Plumas-Sierra Rural Electric Cooperative issued a press release Monday afternoon offering a $2,000 reward for “information leading to the arrest and conviction of persons involved in acts of vandalism against the cooperative.”
The outage happened at approximately 12:45 p.m. PSREC crews were able to completely restore power to the area by 2:39 p.m.
The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation, according to PSREC spokesperson Corby Gardner.
Gardner said the vandalism was centered on some of the co-op’s distribution lines between Greenhorn Ranch and Quincy. She said about 660 customers in that area lost power.
“The investigation is ongoing,” Gardner said.
“Vandalism is dangerous and costs co-op members,” PSREC wrote in its press release. “For safety’s sake and the good of the co-op, please report suspicious activity to the sheriff’s department by calling 283-6375.”
PSREC encourages members to report all outages by calling (800) 555-2207.

It's still no excuse for vandalism.
Hopefully the idiot or idiots are caught and prosecuted.
