The California State Highway Patrol office in Plumas County reports that they have collected $18,500 during January after issuing 1688 license plates to Plumas County residents.
The big ten day storm ended Monday after dumping twice the amount of normal rain and snow for the season. Mail, telephone and telegraph service was interrupted at times, but the Feather River Highway remained open.
Sixteen district area Rotary Clubs will be represented at charter night ceremonies in Portola next month when the newly formed Portola Rotary Club receives its charter from Rotary International.

Plumas County listed more businesses last year than in 1957. In the five year period to date, Chester realized an 8.1 per cent increase, Greenville an 11.3 per cent increase, Quincy a 7.6 per cent increase but Portola suffered a 2.3 per cent drop.

Golf pro Arnold Palmer and a partner from Florida have purchased Nugget Motors car dealership in Quincy from Rich DeMars. DeMars bought the General Motors dealership in 1972 from Virgil Harrell who had operated the dealership for six years.
10 YEARS AGO..........2003
708 valid signatures have been verified by the Plumas County Clerks office in an effort to recall Plumas County Supervisor Robert Meacher and the recall election is set for May 20.
Plumas District Hospital in Quincy now offers the latest in MRI technology two days a week, the only Plumas County facility that offers magnetic resonance imagery (MRI).
