Skippy the little white dog of uncertain lineage who left a Winters Creek cabin February 16 with his mistress Mrs. Winona Ferris, in an attempt to reach human habitation over the snow of the Middle Fork of the Feather River, reached Quincy Sunday. He had stayed there with the frozen body of Ferris for ten days.
50 YEARS AGO..........1963
Torrential rains and wind gusts of tremendous velocity hit Plumas County last week. Some 30 residents of Chester were evacuated when flooding claimed the streets abutting the Feather River. The Spanish Creek bridge in Quincy cracked and washed out. Gansner Park was flooded with two feet of water. The bridge in Taylorsville near the rodeo grounds was washed away.
25 YEARS AGO..........1988
The Northern Valley Indian Health Clinic reopened its doors last week after closing last November, however it will only provide services to Indians and previous non-Indian patients.
10 YEARS AGO...........2003
The Feather River College Foundation has bought the Feather River Apartment complex located adjacent to the college.
Raindancer Dickey-O’Brien, who was tried and convicted in Plumas County Superior Court of murdering and robbing Mark “Jerry” Levitoff in Westwood in January of 2000, was formally sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole last week.
