Feather Publishing has confirmed the Plumas Unified School District board will hold a special meeting Thursday to address issues related to outgoing Quincy High School Principal Dr. Sue Segura.

The open meeting is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at Pioneer-Quincy Elementary School.

Segura received notification March 8 that she would not be coming back to work for Plumas Unified School District as principal at Quincy High School next year.

We are taking our 3rd child through QHS... the first two were a disaster under the leadership at the time they were there... we moved away from plumas county to avoid QHS. We returned after hearing nothing but good about Dr. Sue... We have NOT been dissappointed

I'm disappointed that QHS finally has something good going on there and the board wants to take it away. Dr Sue is the BEST thing that your students could have, she is supportive, holds them accountable, and cares about all of them!

Research and find facts like this: API scores from 2006-2009 (before this principal) increased 69 points from 735 to 804 (Avg. 17.25 points per year). Since then, 2010-2012 API scores have only increased 14 points to 818 (4.67 points per year). Is this a better leadership? Not based on this data.

Allow me to help with your analysis. The lower the scores the more room for large increase averages, the higher they get, the average increase will shrink. eg. If the total is 100 and you're already at 90,how much higher can you go?

Mary I have seen Dr. Sue at many community events helping out . I don't remember any influential at one of them. But I would not recognize some as that. There is some special ppl that work behind the scenes in a lot of events that receive zero credit . I will have to say that Sue is one of those ppl

Really, Gary S, the name calling is uncalled for and unkind. And the people that liked your comment? Can't we do better than that? All I did was present data that suggested that the previous principal supported academics better than the current one. Can you present any data to support your case?

Gary S, you're partly right. It's harder to improve when you make it to the top. But we're not there yet. The top score possible is 1000. We're doing well just above 800, but we could do a lot better. Quincy Elementary went from 837 to 899 in just two years! QHS went from 804 to 815, good not great.

Concerned Parent I would check Chester and Portola API you will find Quincy is better .I look forward to this meeting so we can get to the bottom of what is going on . I have a feeling that all will come out in good time . I see many ppl judge before you know . In time all truth comes forth .

Vinny, you're partly correct. QHS has better API scores than Portola, but not Chester. Chester has had us beat for years. My point was about improvement: If this principal is as great as everyone says she is, we should see great or at least better improvement in the test scores. We don't. She's not.

Actually Chester High is 823, Quincy is 818, and Plumas Charter is 714. But in statewide ranking, Chester is 8 vs 10 statewide and Quincy is 8 vs 6 statewide. And Charter a 3 vs 9 statewide.

And note, the Board fired 32 FTEs - it takes teachers to educate students.

Statewide ranking means statewide ranking of 'similar schools'. Similar schools means schools of similar demographics, teachers, students per teacher, etc.

All I can say my daughters has done very well under Sue 's leadership. She is a 3.9 student and is very active in community service. She plays sports and I am very proud of her. I have found in life u can't please everyone. I look forward to tonight and hope it clears somethings up.

Absolutely Vinny. I personally don't have any knowledge, pro or con, regarding Dr. Sue so I do not offer an opinion. But, I certainly can report on the Ed-Data regarding PUSD.
