Pauline Frederick, famed stage and movie actress who died in Hollywood this week at the age of 53, was a frequent guest at the Feather River Inn during her marriage to her fourth husband H.C. Leighton, a Los Angeles hotelman.

Donald C. Hawkins, Safeway store manager at Mt. Shasta has been named as manager of the new Safeway store in Quincy that will open next month.
Plumas County Librarian Josephine Moore was the guest speaker at the Greenville Soroptimist Club last week where she discussed the history of newspapers in Greenville and their content of both local news and advertising and noted that four current members of the club are descendants of four past newspaper advertisers: McIntyre, Standart, Bidwell and Young.

Feather River College, which was originally founded in July 1968 as a division of Peralta Community College District in Oakland, will be operating independently for the first time this school year under the direction of Plumas Unified School District as the newly formed Feather River Community College District.

The grand opening of the Corner Barn building located at the corner of Highway 70 & 89 in Blairsden was held last weekend. In addition to the Mohawk Valley Resources Center there, four businesses located there participated in the grand opening: Graeagle Associates, Flanigan & Leavitt Insurance, Waddell & Reed and the Eastern Plumas Chamber of Commerce.
