The outdoor trees of the Kelton family and the Hunt family were awarded the cash prize in the Christmas decoration contest in Quincy sponsored by the Quincy 20-30 Club. The $5.00 prize was shared and awarded equally. An additional $5.00 prize was awarded to the Quincy Drug Store Fountain for best holiday show window.
50 YEARS AGO.....1963

Plumas County experienced a white Christmas as temperatures dropped and wet, heavy snow began falling and the snow level dropped below the 3,000 mark. One foot of snow fell in Twain, some three feet of snow fell in Portola, 28 inches was measured in both Greenville and Graeagle and two feet of snow covered Chester. Temperatures the day after Christmas dipped to below the zero mark.
Plumas Bank and Sierra Security Bank has merged into one entity. With the merger, Plumas Bank has grown to six branches serving Northeastern California between Modoc and Nevada Counties.
10 YEARS AGO.....2003
Preparations are being made as Plumas County celebrates its 150th (sesquicentennial) anniversary next year. The act to organize the County of Plumas out of a portion of Butte County passed on March 8, 1954. The Plumas County Museum has released a beautiful new commemorative coin designed by Graeagle resident Patrick Cook and minted at the Marshall Mint in Virginia City, Nevada.
