75 YEARS AGO.....1939

Road improvement construction of Star Route 89 between Calpine and Mohawk Valley was started this week involving six miles of road.

50 YEARS AGO.....1964

A bid of $186,442 has been awarded for construction work to improve 1.2 miles of Bucks Lake Road.

Plumas County Undersheriff Vic Armitage resigned yesterday after 17 years with the Plumas County Sheriff's Department and five years as Undersheriff. He has accepted a position at the Sierra Army Depot in Herlong.

25 YEARS AGO.....1989

Plumas County officials are close to buying 2.5 acres of land located next to the county airport in Chester before the two-year lease-purchase agreement expires. Plumas County has been leasing the land since May 1987 for $1,800 a month.

The Carson and Barnes Circus will set up a huge tent for a five-ring circus in Chester on Sunday. Almost 100 people and 200 animals are part of the circus.

10 YEARS AGO.....2004

Installation of Plumas County’s second traffic light is in progress and will be installed at Mill Creek Road and Highway 70 in East Quincy and will be up and operating by June.
