GRAND OPENING GALA
    Mt. Lassen Log Homes is having a grand opening gala event at its recently completed showroom in Chester on Saturday, July 11 from 9 a.m.  -5 p.m. Owners J.R. Thompson and Windy Waters-Thompson invite you, your family and friends to stop by and tour their brand new log home; sign-up for a chance to win a 40 inch flat panel television; enjoy some homemade treats and a good old-fashioned barbecue. GARDENING BASKET WINNER
    The third and fourth generation mother-daughter team of Sherri and Sonia at Gray’s Flower Garden in Quincy continue with the family’s traditions by giving away a Gardener’s Gift Basket this week packed full of merchandise from their nursery valued at $270. It was to thank customers as the nursery and floral shop enjoys 63 years of family ownership. The lucky winner was a very elated Dr. Rachel Hurlburt, whose second love is gardening — her first is taking care of the medical needs of her patients at Northfork Family Medicine. She said she has never won anything, adding this is the perfect prize for her given it has everything she needs for her garden.

    X This begins year five for Norbert and Christine Schneider at Schneider’s Old Time Merchants on Little Bear (campground) Road in Blairsden. This unique gift shop carries hand painted glass, cards, stuff animals, German chocolates, crackers, books and just a whole lot more.    

    x This month marks the eighth anniversary for Pro-Craft Painting in Lake Almanor. Owners Robert and Cheryl Edwards business specializes in painting and staining custom homes, log homes, and exterior and interior painting.

    X Eleven years ago Lassen Drug Co. moved to another location and the gift side of the store became Lassen Gift Company.     x Two years ago Northern California auto giant Benny Brown bought Quincy Auto Center, the local Ford, Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep dealership. Benny owns several other successful dealerships, including Susanville Ford, Susanville Auto Center along with stores in Corning and Oroville.

     x Joanie Kielty, owner of Treats Dog Company in Chester, is celebrating her second year in business this month. She offers a self-serve dog wash and dog treat bakery, both have become quite popular with her customers. She has also increased awareness about health and wellness and what a difference, she says, quality, holistic food can make in a pet’s life.

    X Bruce and Susan Robinson are celebrating their 43rd anniversary as owners of Shadetree Auto Sales and Repair in East Quincy. They cater to their customers with quality used cars and trucks and the line of light-duty Mahindra tractors, dump trailers and horse trailers. Behind the sales department is an experienced automotive service and repair facility. Also at the facility are Quincy Auto Glass and Plumas Auto Diagnostics handling the smog station.



SOLAR COOK-OFF SATURDAY
    Just as the dust settles after the Silver Buckle Rodeo in Taylorsville, the fun picks right back up this Saturday with the 19th annual Solar Cook-Off. The fun-filled family event includes solar cooking demonstrations, arts and crafts fair and plenty of live music throughout the day and well into the evening. Performing at the Grange Hall that evening is Guitar Shorty, “a blues rock original” credited with influencing both Jimi Hendrix and Buddy Guy.
