All schools in the Chester and Indian Valley areas will be closed this morning, however all other schools in Plumas County are open and on time. This can change at any moment due to power outages and everyone is advised to check back to this site for further updates.
The power has been out in Chester since Wednesday evening. The PG&E website is showing power outages are affecting parts of Chester, Lake Almanor, and portions of Greenville, Crescent Mills, Taylorsville, and parts of the Feather River Canyon at this time. Feather Publishing has confirmed the power outages in Taylorsville and Susanville as of 6:20 a.m. Power is also out in Susanville as of 10:00 a.m.
Chester is reporting 18" of new snow overnight, with 12" in Graeagle and just a couple of inches in Quincy. Send us your snow reports and photos.
Parents should allow extra travel time due to chain restrictions in place throughout much of the county. Buses in some areas will only be driving at the maximum speed limit of 35 MPH.
Call the Caltrans road information hotline at 1-800-427-ROAD before traveling. Current chain controls for Plumas County can be viewed here.
