3/31/2010 - 5:30 a.m.

As of 5:30 a.m. all schools in the Plumas Unified School District will be open and starting on time for Wednesday, March 31, 2010. A quick check around the county shows 12 inches of snow fell overnight in the Portola area for a total of 16 inches. Quincy received 2-6 inches, while Chester only has one inch of new snow at this time, but the roads are slick. So far this storm has concentrated more on the south side of the county.

Buses will be running a little slower in some areas with R1 chain restrictions and traveling a maximum of 35 mph.

Motorists are advised to check road conditions at the Caltrans website (below) before traveling.
