Fourth of July events within Plumas County:
In Portola: a concert, dancing and a carnival with many concessions, baseball games. In Greenville: dancing all afternoon, 10 cents a dance, a bathing beauty contest, swimming racing and diving stunts and a grand ball in the big, cool pavilion, $1.00 admission.

Candy Armanino of Taylorsville will preside over the Taylorsville Fourth of July Silver Buckle Rodeo this year.
Plumas County was once again first in the state to report final election results to the California Secretary of State in this June's election. The call was made to the Secretary of State March Fong Eu at 9:39 p.m. With over 10,000 total registered voters in Plumas County there was a 69 per cent voter turnout.
10 YEARS AGO... 2000
Nearly one million dollars has been spent for improvements at the Plumas-Sierra County fairgrounds in the last four and half years under the direction of fair manager Mike Clements and the fair board. The fair has spent some $67,500 and the Plumas County Board of Supervisors has contributed $l57,600 to upgrading the facility.
