With two final wins against Siskiyous and Lassen last week, the Feather River College volleyball team completed its regular season with a 10-0 record and won the Golden Valley Conference championship.
“It’s a very big deal,” said FRC coach Sarah Ritchie. “After taking second place three years straight, it was our time. Going undefeated makes it even more worthwhile. This is the first time ever.”
The Golden Eagles enter the state playoffs with their first game Tuesday, Nov. 23. There’s a 50 percent chance that FRC could host the opening round, but that won’t be decided until Sunday, Nov. 21.
Feather River has been hampered by a couple injuries, but Ritchie said the team still has its big guns, and she’s moving players around to get ready for the postseason.
“We have a little time to get it together,” said Ritchie. “If we can get past the first round, I think we’re going to do really well.”
FRC completed its regular season last Friday, Nov. 12, with a three-game win at Lassen, 25-16, 25-7 and 25-21.
Kim Naut led the Golden Eagles’ offense with 15 kills and no errors in only 16 attempts. Naut also earned four blocks.
Kadie Miller registered two aces, 10 digs and 25 assists. Natalie Ray delivered seven kills and two aces.
Two nights earlier, Nov. 10, FRC beat College of the Siskiyous 25-14, 20-25, 25-10 and 25-18.
Ray led Feather River’s offense with 14 kills and two aces, while also earning 14 digs and four blocks.
Julia Lynch fired in 10 kills. Miller totaled eight kills, three aces, 15 digs and 32 assists. Katy Batcheleder contributed 18 digs.
