Fly-in continues 30-year tradition

The Rotary Club of Portola hosts its annual Fly-In Pancake Breakfast Sunday, Sept. 9, from 8 to 11 a.m. at Nervino Airport in Beckwourth.

This is the club’s largest fundraiser of the year, with proceeds going toward college and leadership scholarships and Rotary meeting hall maintenance.

Club members will serve pancakes, sausages, eggs, juice and coffee to an expected crowd of 600. A gin fizz booth will also be set up.

In addition to the all-you-can-eat breakfast, attendees will hear live music, view classic cars and antique trucks, and be able to take monster truck rides.

This year Reno’s British Car Club will attend with a collection of MG sports cars.

The ever-popular bounce house will be available for children.

The Rotarians are also conducting a drawing for a Polaris 500 Quad and other prizes, with proceeds going toward the Rotary Endowment and more scholarships.

The cost of the event is $10 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under.
