COMMUNITY DAY AT THE RANCH
You are invited to join Ralph and Trish Wilburn and their wranglers at their first-ever community appreciation day celebration, May 1, beginning at 2 p.m. This year marks their 10th anniversary as owners of Greenhorn Creek Guest Ranch, situated a few miles east of Quincy. As a way of thanking the community, they are holding this special community appreciation day packed full of free family activities and festivities. You’ll enjoy fishing, swimming, lawn games, water games, horseshoe and volleyball tournaments, line dancing, tug of wars and so much more. In addition, the local fire department and the Quincy fire department will display some of their equipment and Mountain Care LifeFlight will bring in a helicopter for display. Door prizes will be given throughout the day. We even understand some special guests are expected to attend.

P icnics, gifts, special OCCASIONS
Patrick and Donata at CafÈ LeCoq in Quincy have come up with a rather novel idea: They are taking orders for “picnic baskets” or “backpacks” that are stocked with delicious foods like their mouthwatering filet mignon, breast of duck or prawns with all the appropriate accompaniments. These are ideal to take home or on the road for that special afternoon or evening or to give as a gift for those special occasions.

Opportunity for local contractors
At a recent conference, Plumas Sierra County Fair Manager John Steffanic and Maintenance Supervisor Oran Morrison became aware of an opportunity that could help local contractors. The construction arm of the California Department of Fairs and Expositions, the California Construction Authority, keeps a list of contractors wanting to be notified of projects administered by the CCA. Construction projects at California’s 78 fairgrounds total over $52 million. They range from fence construction to re-roofing projects. When any of these projects have been funded, bid packages are sent out to those contractors enrolled with the CCA.
