Anniversary sale and open house

In celebration of their sixth year, Main Street Styles owner Charlotte Smith and manager Ashley Stevenson are having an storewide sale and open house on Saturday, April 6. There will be also be prize giveaways, refreshments and munchies.

Summer hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m

Susan Bryner and Dawn Gray, co-owners of Books & Beyond in Chester, have added yet a new meaning to “beyond.” The store is now an authorized UPS shipping outlet. “As we approach our 10-year anniversary, we see the need to expand the type of services that we offer our local community. So, to our traditional retail inventory, art gallery and dry-cleaning services we have added shipping, copy and print services and public computer access,” Susan said.

The 17th annual Plumas-Sierra Job Fairs are set for March 27 in Graeagle at the fire department and in Quincy at Feather River College on March 28. Each job fair runs 2 to 4 p.m. Participation for businesses and prospective employees is free and is sponsored by the Alliance for Workforce Development-Business Career Network. busy at eastern plumas chamber

Staffers at the Eastern Plumas Chamber of Commerce have been busy this winter getting ready for lots of events. There is still time to register for their second annual Business Summit set for Friday, March 22, at Nakoma Resort. Keynote speaker for the daylong event is Barbara Vohryzek, deputy director of small business for the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development. A series of topics will enlighten and help attendees deal with the demanding challenges facing business today. To reserve your seat call 836-6811.

Over the winter months the chamber has been working on the “rec and tech” committee and the city of Portola’s website; they also attended the Travel and Adventure show in Santa Clara. As an interesting note, their Tourist Information Center helped more than 11,500 visitors in 2012!

They are now getting ready for this season and want to remind members to update their information with the chamber.

updates on almanor fitness

Some exciting things are happening at the Lake Almanor Fitness Center in Chester. Recently promoted co-manager Soozie Yearwood has earned her certification from the American Fitness Association as a group exercise instructor and is now also a certified Zumba instructor. She and Shannon Story conduct Zumba classes Monday and Wednesday evenings and on Tuesday mornings.

Wendy Cheli has joined the LAFC team as a shift manager. She is also trained using state-of-the-art computerized equipment to do body composition analysis.

The facility has also upgraded its cardio exercise equipment with the addition of some Precor ellipticals, Duo-Tech weight equipment and a Nautilus tread climber.
