Joy Belle Jackson assumed the duties of Plumas County Librarian this week succeeding Mrs. J. Watson, who resigned. Miss Jackson and her mother have taken residence at the Lasswell House on Jackson Street in Quincy.

75 YEARS AGO............1936

Two afternoon performances and two evening performances of the motion picture Ah, Wilderness! starring Lionel Barrymore will signal the grand opening of Quincy's new motion picture house named the Town Hall Saturday. The 30-foot neon sign was installed earlier in the week.

The highest temperature of 1936 was reached over the weekend when many parts of Plumas County recorded a temperature of 102 degrees.

World renowned bronco riders will take part in the 16th annual Chester Rodeo Sunday. Admission to the 3,000 grandstand seats is $1.00 plus ten cents tax.

75 YEARS AGO......1936

Ending a six year shut down, the Quincy Lumber Company sawmill will re-open next month announced C. A. King, company general manager and Quincy resident. The sawmill shut down in 1930 and since then the operations have been centered at the Sloat mill. Logs for the Quincy mill will be cut in Butterfly Valley where Quincy Lumber Company purchased 80 million board feet of government owned timber.
