The longest rain storm in recent Plumas County history brought slides to the Western Pacific Railroad that had crews working valiantly this week to keep the line open near Pulga in the Feather River Canyon.

75 YEARS AGO.......1936
For the first time in 15 years women will serve on the Plumas County Superior Court trial juries. The jury lists compiled at the first of the year by the five Plumas County Board of Supervisors had been confined to male voters since 1920.
The Quincy Lumber Company box factory in Sloat resumed operations Saturday after a two week shut down.
75 YEARS AGO.....1936
The Plumas County Bank was sold to the Bank of America last Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock p.m. In six weeks the transaction will be completed and thereafter the institution will do business as a branch of Bank of America.
Telephone communication with Genesee was disrupted this week when a large tree fell across the wires and brought down ten poles of the line co-operatively maintained by the Genesee citizens and the United States Forest Service. The U.S.F.S. is rebuilding the line.
80 YEARS AGO.....1930
Mrs. Minnie Metzker today joins the ranks of the Plumas National-Bulletin correspondents representing Beckwith in the columns of the county newspaper. Mrs. Metzker has been postmaster of the Beckwith post office for two years, resigning recently.
50 YEARS AGO.....1960
Approximately 250 toys were given to local youths of needy families for Christmas that had been made and repaired by the inmates of the Plumas County jail.
