75 YEARS AGO............1936
Plumas County's oldest active cattleman Peter Carmichael of Portola was a spectator at the Grange Fair in Taylorsville Sunday. He was born near La Porte 81 years ago and ran a butcher shop at Howland Flat for 33 years. Three years ago he and his sons Roy and Frank bought a ranch at Willow Creek near Portola where he still rides herd there daily.
75 YEARS AGO..........1936
Residents of Plumas County from La Porte to Chester saw one of the heaviest hail storms ever on record yesterday at Noon. The storm was punctuated by thunder and lightning.
Lake Almanor Resort founder and businessman J.N. Boshoff, 67, died Sunday night. He established Hamilton Park Resort 14 years ago.
75 YEARS AGO......1936
Of the 18 national forests in California the Plumas National Forest has the worst fire record in the state of California this year with a total of eight fires during the past week alone. The total this year now stands at 116 in the Plumas National Forest. Of the 116 fires, 98 were started by campers.
