Frenchman Lake
The folks at Wiggins Trading Post (993-4683) report fishing has been excellent all around the lake. The air is a little colder so fishing a bit deeper may increase your productivity.
Don’t forget Little Last Chance Creek. There are only a few days left before the stream season close. One local fisherman fishing the creek used a grasshopper pattern and caught a brown estimated to be 4 – 6 pounds.
The Feather River College women’s soccer team hosted the Shasta College Knights Oct. 26, and the Knights walked away with a 3-2 conference victory.
The opening half of the match looked promising for the Lady Eagles, as they jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Sage Clark opened the scoring with a breakaway goal just eight minutes into the match.
Lake Almanor 
I made a trip to Almanor last week. We had been planning to close and winterize the family cabin on the weekend. But colder than forecast weather prompted a quick trip to make sure the pipes hadn’t frozen. (Sounded like a good excuse to me.)
Skilled play and intense effort defined the league championship match between the Quincy and Portola boys’ soccer teams last Saturday, making for an impressive game between two very good teams.
The top-seeded Portola Tigers hosted the match and led 1-0 at halftime, but the Quincy Trojans scored three goals in the second half for a 3-1 victory.
