Crisp, sunny winter days are an invitation to play in and enjoy the great outdoors. The Lassen National Forest is pleased to announce upcoming snowshoeing excursions that will allow visitors to do just that. While there’s more than one way to engage in outdoor winter recreation, snowshoeing is one that people of all ages can enjoy.
Wild pig threat
Question: I learned recently that some Indians on a reservation in my area released some pigs for hunting purposes and now they are breeding and beginning to populate the area where I walk my dogs in Descanso, Calif. Are these pigs a threat to me or my dogs?
Question: How are waterfowl reservations picked and how are they kept random? There seems to be something wrong with the system because it doesn’t seem to be randomly selecting people. Several of my neighbors and I have put in for the season draw for multiple refuges for the last few years without much success. One person has not been drawn in the past two years. Some people may get drawn only once while other people are getting drawn quite a bit. Can you please shed some light on this for us?
A lucky angler will take home $200 and a trophy for catching the biggest fish at the John Pato Sr. ice fishing tournament. The second annual tournament will be held in conjunction with Trout Unlimited Feb. 4 at Lake Davis in Portola.
Pato created this event last year to bring the community together for fun during winter months and to raise awareness and money for the American Cancer Association.
