Volcanoes top Lumberjacks

The Chester High School boys’ basketball team traveled to Westwood Wednesday, Feb. 8, and posted a 67-56 win over the Lumberjacks.

Westwood led 19-18 at the end of the first quarter, but then the Volcanoes outscored the Lumberjacks 13-6 in the second quarter to take a 31-25 lead at halftime.

This continues to be the winter that wasn’t. The lack of precipitation is not a good thing on many levels including the health of our forests and fisheries.

But the silver lining in this rainless cloud is that there have been many beautiful days just perfect for getting out and doing a little fishing.

Hatchery to go fishing

The Feather River College Fish Hatchery received Outdoor Nation’s Take Me Fishing Award earlier this month through the efforts of Zach Parks’ Project Fish.

The Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation funded the $2,500 award that will help Plumas County’s foster youth go fishing.

Quincy boys' basketball nips Portola
