Fishing Report for the week of 8/18/2010

Frenchman Lake

Fishing at Frenchman's remains steady and plentiful. Fishermen are catching limits, weighing 1-1/2 to 2 pounds and about 17 - 21 inches in length. Nightcrawlers seem to be the best bait.

The east side of the lake, at Crystal and Turkey Point, are favorites and early morning seems to be the best time. Fishermen are catching rainbow trout, crawdads and catfish.

Fishing Report for the week of 8/11/2010

Frenchman Lake
The weather seems to be cooling down and fishing at Frenchman's continues to be plentiful.

Eli of Reno, Nev., caught a rainbow trout at the dam, from the shore, using nightcrawlers. It weighed about 1-1/2 pounds and was about 15 - 17 inches in length.

Mike of Chilcoot caught three at the dam using PowerBait in chartreuse. Most were 15 - 18 inches in length and weighed about 1-1/2 to 2 pounds.

Brand completes 100 mile run in less than 24 hours

Graeagle resident Scott Brand crosses the finish line. To race in the Western States 100, runners have to qualify, serve as volunteers, and win an entry by lottery.

The Western States 100, a premier ultra-running race from Squaw Valley to Auburn, tests the boundaries of human endurance.

The 100-mile course across the Sierra Nevada range takes runners through snowfields and swollen creeks before dropping them down into sweltering hot canyons. The route totals 18,000 feet of elevation gain and 23,000 feet of elevation loss.

Golf results for the week of 8/4/2010

Mt. Huff

Wednesay Scramble

A little bit of a cooling trend brought our golfers out for the Mt. Huff Wednesday Morning Scramble.

The first place team members were: Nolan Bussey, Ralph Cote, and Bob McElman.

In second place were team members John Hackett, Phil Rodger and Bill Arave.

The chip-in competition was a tie between Nolan Bussey and Phil Rodgers.

Closest to the pin was won by Bob McElman.

Fishing Report for the week of 8/4/2010

Frenchman Lake

  Reports have been good all around the lake. Catching limits of rainbow trout, catfish and crawdads. The early morning remains the best time to fish, going deeper as the weather gets warmer throughout the day.

  Most fishermen are using nightcrawlers, with a few using flies (black or dark green) or lures (PMK+ blue or yellow).
