Independence Day is a holiday many of us celebrate with parades, picnics, barbecues and fireworks. But in the midst of these festivities, how many of us take a moment to think of why we are celebrating this day? Did you know last Thursday, July 1, marked the two-year anniversary of California’s hands-free law? According to California Highway Patrol statistics, far too many motorists “are still not dialed-in to the rules and are either being cited for it or becoming a grim statistic.”

Exhibit guides are now available for the 2010 Plumas-Sierra County Fair. Guides may be found at numerous outlets around town: schools, banks, libraries and post offices. You may also get one at the fair office at the fairgrounds in Quincy or download all or part of it online at plumas-sierracountyfair.net/exhibit-guide.html. The theme for this year's fair is "Bales, Tails and Happy Trails."
