Containment means there is a line around the fire that should hold. When there is a higher level of confidence that it will hold, the raise the status to "controlled". Even that is a long way from out. Interior burning will likely go on until it rains. Air quality will vary from day to day.

We have a 2nd home in Greenville were planning on going up there for the 3 day weekend. Maybe a dumb question, but does "containment" mean that the fire is actually out? We were up there 2 weeks ago and had to leave cuz of smoke and power outages. Any info on air qual there & at Lake Almanor?

Well, the Ohio Valley completely burned out 100% Tuesday night. There have been multiple structure losses from mines in the area - cabins, storage sheds and outbuildings. Huge loss of history in the area. The Swiss Mine from the 1800s, probably Dutch Hill and many more losses.

I can't say for sure, but what I heard was Ohio Valley. Canyon Dam and Prattville all appear to be fine. They are still working hard to contain the fire down by Seneca. I have not heard of any structure loss down there.

There are lots of rumors from even people in the 'know' that if the forest service had let Calfire put out the fire at 10, 50, and 100 acres, then we would not be in this situation.

The Chips Fire is over 60,000 acres because FS as well as Park Service dont fight fires, they manage them. This makes Plumas County a very dangerous place to live in!

Suppression costs are reaching $30mil but FS what about the rehabilitation costs. That will be lifetimes. Maybe you should've put this thing out when it was "25 acres for 3 days". So upsetting the toll of this fire on our beautiful forests.
