  • Townhalls attract crowds: Assemblyman Brian Dahle and Sen. Ted Gaines met with constituents in Quincy and Chester during a three-meeting swing through Plumas and Lassen counties.
  • New leader: After nearly three decades, the Plumas County Mental Health Commission has a new leader. Supervisor Kevin Goss was named to replace Hank Eisenmann.
  • Home away from home: As of last week, new homes had been found for all of the patients at Quincy Nursing & Rehabilitation and most had already moved.

Winter fest heads for success

  The Graeagle-Plumas Alliance, made up of businesses in the community, is working diligently to make the upcoming Winter Snow Festival the event to look forward to this winter.

  The festival is scheduled for Valentines Day and Presidents Day Weekend, Feb. 14 – 18, 2013, and will offer a wide variety of snow and winter activates for the public and for sweethearts to enjoy.

Approaching storms trigger flood warning

The National Weather Service today issued a flood warning with the upcoming storms later this week.

The warning spans Wednesday through late Saturday night.

The Feather River drainage was specifically mentioned, as well as the northern Sacramento Valley, northeast foothills, western Plumas County, Lassen Volcanic National Park and the west slope of the northern Sierra Nevada.

Idea Creation Workshop nurtures the young entrepreneurial spirit

  “Entrepreneurship is about making a living doing what you love; it’s about living life with passion and creating jobs for yourself and others. Entrepreneurship isn’t for everyone, but the skills that make people successful entrepreneurs are the same skills that will help you succeed in whatever you choose to do in life.”

  This was the message shared with almost 100 high school seniors from Chester, Greenville, Quincy and Portola at the Idea Creation Workshop at the Town Hall Theatre in Quincy on Tuesday, Nov. 13.

Potential propane disaster in Delleker prevented

  On Monday, Nov. 19, residents of Portola and Delleker were faced with a powerless afternoon. The outage was a result of a propane leak in Delleker, and around noon all power on the north side of the Feather River was shut off.

  A Bi-State propane truck sprang a leak off of Bella Vista Drive and Cuesta Way while filling up a tank in the neighborhood.
