CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING..
.STRONG SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL DEVELOP AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT
THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING. AHEAD OF THE FRONT...HUMIDITY WILL
DROP BELOW TEN PERCENT. AS THE FRONT APPROACHES...SOUTHWEST WINDS
OF 15 TO 25 MPH AND GUSTS TO 35 MPH ARE EXPECTED. THE COMBINATION
OF STRONG WINDS AND VERY DRY AIR WILL CREATE CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER
CONDITIONS THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

Outstanding guns still a question in manhunt case

Law enforcement authorities still have not determined if there are any outstanding guns related to the Aug. 12 incident that began as a high-speed chase in Washoe County and ended with a manhunt in Plumas County.

Plague outbreak prompts campground closure

State and county officials temporarily closed Plumas-Eureka State Park's Jamison Creek Campground Wednesday, Aug. 18, after discovery of a dead rodent that tested positive for plague.

Director of Plumas County Environmental Health Jerry Sipe said the discovery triggered a rodent survey, including trapping and blood testing.

Sierra Pacific Industries suspends operations at Loyalton power plant

Sierra Pacific Industries announced Aug. 20 that it is suspending operations at its Loyalton power plant effective immediately. The plant's 15 operators who will be directly affected by this closure were notified the same day.
