Jim Jenner, the former public defender of Alameda County, noted trial lawyer, speaker and author, passed away at his home on Oct.15, 2017, with his loving wife Mina at his side.
Jim was born in 1932, in his beloved small town of Portola, where his father was an engineer on the Western Pacific Line and his mother was a nurse. He always cherished the halcyon days, growing up like “Huck Finn” and playing baseball.
Jim graduated from U.C. Berkeley and then enlisted as a Private in the U.S. Army. He then went on to graduate from law school at U.C. Berkeley.
Mina and Jim were companions in their love of mountaineering, nature and the outdoors.
Jim is survived by his wife Mina Jenner, and by his three stepchildren.
Irene (Evelyn Irene O’Keefe Ward) passed peacefully with family members on Oct. 22, 2017. She was born Feb. 3, 1934.
Her cremains will reside in Ukiah.
