100 YEARS AGO … 1917

Charles McKenzie of Clio, a student at the Plumas County High School was awarded second prize at the recent California State Fair for an oak library table that he constructed last term in the school’s manual training department.

50 YEARS AGO … 1967

Hotel Quincy owner George Parrell this week agreed to a clean up effort of half the block of charred rubble on the hotel property that has stood as an unsightly reminder of the November 26, 1966 fire there. The property owner said he was financially unable to proceed with the clearing of the rubble and disposal of the salvage so the Quincy Chamber of Commerce has started to solicit volunteer assistance to begin and complete the project.

25 YEARS AGO … 1992

The Plumas County Board of Supervisors established the position of a full time county administrative officer (CAO) position at an annual salary of $59,906.

Newly elected Plumas County District Attorney James Reichle was sworn into office this week, replacing Michael Crane, who was recalled from office ealier.

10 YEARS AGO … 2007

Thick smoke and ash filled the skies of Plumas, Lassen and Sierra Counties from the Indian Valley Moonlight Fire which has burned 63,418 acres.
