100 YEARS AGO.....1915

Plumas County High School commenced the second semester of the term on Monday following the holiday recess. There were several new scholars added, bringing total enrollment up to 35.

100 YEARS AGO.....1915

The Plumas County elected officers chosen by voters to serve the next four years were sworn in Monday at the Plumas County courthouse: J.O. Moncur, Superior Court Judge; L.A. Braden, Sheriff; M.C. Kerr, District Attorney; E.C. Kelsey, Treasurer; L. Clough, Recorder; L.P. Mori, Tax Collector; F.C. Pazour, Assessor.

75 YEARS AGO.....1939

California automobile license plates for next year, 1940, are designed with black letters and numerals on an orange background with rounded corners. All number series start with #101, eliminating low numbers. Registration period is from January 1 through February 4.

75 YEARS AGO.....1939

Terrific savings on Christmas dinner foods advertised at local grocery stores: ham, 26 cents a pound; pork roast, 15 cents a pound; canned cranberry sauce, 10 cents a can; fresh cranberries, 13 cents a pound; celery, 13 cents a bunch; cauliflower, 13 cents a head; canned pumpkin, 3 cans for 25 cents.

This Christmas season Quincy entered the claim of having the tallest outdoor Christmas tree in California. It is a 200 ft. Douglas Fir with 300 colored globes. It stands at the top of Radio Hill in view of most of American Valley.
