A drove of Mormon crickets, covering an area of 40 acres have invaded Long Valley and Vinton adjacent to the Nevada state line.

Earl Morrow of Quincy and L.O. Gray of Greenville were elected to the Plumas County Board of High School Trustees. Gray polled 702 votes, Morrow 602 votes and W.B. McKnight of Portola garnered 450 votes.

75 YEARS AGO.....1939

The Quincy Fire District has acquired a 103 x 65 foot lot on Lawrence Street in Quincy where a newly constructed fire house is proposed to be built to include a garage room for an ambulance and two trucks, a three-room dormitory and a meeting room, all estimated to cost $5,000.

Road improvement construction of Star Route 89 between Calpine and Mohawk Valley was started this week involving six miles of road.

50 YEARS AGO.....1964

A bid of $186,442 has been awarded for construction work to improve 1.2 miles of Bucks Lake Road.

Plumas County Undersheriff Vic Armitage resigned yesterday after 17 years with the Plumas County Sheriff's Department and five years as Undersheriff. He has accepted a position at the Sierra Army Depot in Herlong.

The Indian Valley Garage in Greenville was purchased this week by A.C. Dellinger who also has a garage in Quincy and is the Oldsmobile and GMC truck dealer.

Four candidates are in the race for Plumas County High School trustee and include Dr. W.B. McKnight and Ira Baldwin, both of Portola, Earl Morrow of Quincy and L.O. Gray of Greenville.
