Five days remain to avoid a census worker at your door With just five days left for households to mail back their 2010 Census forms, the U.S. Census Bureau wants to remind people that it's not too late to return their completed questionnaires and be counted.

With property taxes due this week, homeowners are probably thinking about property values and the associated taxes. Property reassessment is one way to bring relief to strapped homeowners in today's troubling economic times. Many homeowners have the option of applying for a Proposition 8: "Decline in Value" review. Proposition 8 is a temporary reduction in assessed value when real property suffers a decline in market value.

Civic group looks at Almanor trail conversion

It was definitely a coming together of purpose when the Chester-Lake Almanor Chamber of Commerce conference room hosted a packed meeting March 22.
The drawing card was discussion about the potential for conversion of the Almanor Railway (Collins Pine Company rail line) to a multipurpose recreational trail.

Quincy High opens its doors to the community
The entire community is invited to attend Quincy High School's Demo Night and Senior Expo Wednesday, April 14.
The open house event will give visitors an opportunity to see some of the unique subjects students have explored this year through demonstrations and activities.
