The announcement that Dyer Management signed an agreement with Lassen County in December 2009, assuming all rights and responsibilities for the construction of the four-season resort southwest of Westwood, brought a variety of reactions from local business owners.

Schools open Thursday, except Chester and Indian Valley area

All schools in the Chester and Indian Valley areas will be closed this morning, however all other schools in Plumas County are open and on time. This can change at any moment due to power outages and everyone is advised to check back to this site for further updates.
The power has been out in Chester since Wednesday evening. The PG&E website is showing power outages are affecting parts of Chester, Lake Almanor, and portions of Greenville, Crescent Mills, Taylorsville, and parts of the Feather River Canyon at this time. Feather Publishing has confirmed the power outages in Taylorsville and Susanville as of 6:20 a.m. Power is also out in Susanville as of 10:00 a.m.
Chester is reporting 18" of new snow overnight, with 12" in Graeagle and just a couple of inches in Quincy. Send us your snow reports and photos.

Roadbed on Round Valley Dam cracks

State officials asked Indian Valley Community Services District personnel to monitor cracks in the roadbed on the Round Valley Reservoir Dam after a recent inspection.
The cracks show some movement there, reported Water Operations Manager Jesse Lawson, though he did not seem unduly concerned.

Portola supports PSREC acquisition of electrical service
At the regular meeting of the city council Jan. 13, the city of Portola prepared for a pre-hearing conference the California Public Utilities Commission has scheduled Jan 20 in San Francisco, by adopting a resolution in support of Plumas-Sierra Rural Electric Cooperative’s acquisition of electrical service within the city.

Plumas Schools open Wednesday and buses on normal schedule

Hwy 70 in the Feather River Canyon now open

The slide by Elephant Butte Tunnel in the Feather River Canyon has been stabilized and Highway 70 has been opened to through traffic.
