A grand celebration planned for the Cy Hall Memorial Museum

After almost 20 years of dedicated work, directors of the Cy Hall Memorial Museum are ready for a grand opening celebration mixer Friday, July 9, at 5:30 p.m., with a special recognition program at 6:30 p.m.
The museum is located on the corner of Main and Mill streets, in the building many old-timers will remember as Miller’s warehouse.

Economic impacts of Plumas District Hospital studied
Plumas District Hospital recently released an economic impact study it commissioned, at a cost of $5,000, through the Center for Economic Development at California State University–Chico.
The study analyzes the economic impact of the district on the local economy and tries to estimate the economic effects of a hospital closure. It does not, however, look at what might lead to closure or whether passage of Measure B would or could lead to closure.

County looks to phone system for cost reductions
The Board of Supervisors approved Information Systems Manager Dave Preston’s plan to comb the county phone system for potentially unused or redundant lines at the June budget meeting.
Preston said he had made cuts in various line items to save a telecommunications support technician position, but could only find immediate funding for three-fifths of a full-time position that was staffed at four-fifths.

Plumas Rural Services takes over transit operations
The Plumas County Board of Supervisors approved the county transportation committee’s contract with Plumas Rural Services, making PRS the new provider for Plumas Transit.

Hospital board declines to give Hathaway a new contract
Plumas District Hospital board president Dr. Mark Satterfield explained the background leading up to a possible vote on a new contract for Chief Executive Officer Dick Hathaway at the July 1 board meeting.
