2023 Western Pacific Celebration on track for Saturday, May 20 in Portola

The Western Pacific Railroad Museum (WPRM) in Portola invites one and all to join in on the fun of the 2023 Western Pacific Celebration on Saturday, May 20 from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The event is highlighted by operations with the Western Pacific 0-6-0 165 steam locomotive, in addition to guided docent tours of key museum artifacts, train rides, open equipment and some surprises along the way. Members and volunteers alike can enjoy a pre-event pancake breakfast in the “Silver Plate” diner from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Gates will be open for the public at 10:30 a.m. and train rides operate from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., then 2:3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Gates close at 5:30 p.m. Members get free admission and train rides, with cab rides extra fare.

Rides are included with public admission fare, with adults ages 19-64 at $12 per person, youth from 5-18 at $6 per person and children four and under get in free. Seniors aged 65 and up as well as active military are $9 per person and a family pass is $30 for two adults and any related children ages 18 and under. Locomotive cab rides are $20 for adults ages 19-64, $10 for youth aged 4-18 and $15 for seniors aged 65 and up as well as active military. For more information, go to WPLives.org/wpcelebration.
