The two air tankers stationed at the Chester Air Attack Base taxi to the start of the runway, ready to take off to assist in the suppression of a distant conflagration. They will be joining other aircraft this fire season throughout the northern California region. Finally aloft, the first of two air tankers, with a capacity of 750 gallons of retardant or water, takes fight on its way to drop its load on a wildland fire, according to the Forest Service.
