Another day, another round of rescues
Plumas County Search and Rescue was at it again today — rescuing people who were directed onto Gold Lake Highway by their navigation systems. Search and Rescue estimates they helped at least 17 stranded motorists, and, with the California Highway Patrol, diverted a steady stream of more vehicles from making the same mistake.
At this point, agencies aren’t sure what else they can do as motorists, desperate for a way to get around in the mountains, follow there navigation systems and other apps to these closed roadways and then don’t adhere to the closed signs.
The CHP also reports that Eastern Plumas continues to be plagued with issues including County Road A-24 in the Sierra Valley, which was closed due to snow drifts.
