Aug. 9: Plumas Public Health reports 19 new cases

The Plumas County Public Health Agency announced this evening, Aug. 9, that there are 19 new cases to report. The health agency is posting positive test results twice a week — on Mondays and Thursdays. On Friday, Aug. 5, (the last reporting day) 20 cases were reported, and 20 cases were also reported on Monday, Aug. 1. Once again, the majority is in the Southern Region.

The cases reported today are as follows:

Fourteen cases for the Southern Region (Quincy/Meadow Valley): Five confirmed on Aug. 6;  and  and nine confirmed today, Aug. 9.

Five cases for the Eastern Region (Graeagle/Portola): One confirmed on Aug. 6; and four confirmed today, Aug. 9.

The total confirmed number of coronavirus cases in the county to date is 831.

Plumas County does not test for the delta variant. If an individual tests positive, a second swab can be taken and it is sent away for further testing. Because of a backlog, it can take two to three weeks to receive definitive results. Public Health has said that contact tracing has indicated that the delta variant is in Plumas County, just as it is throughout the state and nation.
