August is child support awareness month

Plumas County Child Support would like the public to be aware that August is Child Support Awareness Month.

The Plumas office routinely ranks in the state’s top 10 for performance and usually in the top 5. Child support offices are judged on how effective they are in collecting child support payments.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom released a statement earlier this month recognizing the important work done by the state’s child support offices.

Pamela Keller, a child support specialist, has been with the department 15 years, and said the office will be represented at the Plumas-Sierra County Fair with an outreach booth for the five-day fair run. Three of those days — Thursday through Saturday — youth will have the opportunity to enter a drawing for backpacks full of supplies. It’s free for children entering first- through 12th-grades. Children must submit their own tickets to be entered.

The Plumas County Child Support office is located on Lawrence Street in Quincy and can be reached at 866-901-3212.
