Author reading and book signing comes to Quincy

Barn Owl Books in Quincy is hosting a reading and book signing for the September release “All of Me: Stories of Love, Anger, and the Female Body,” anthology on PM Press.
Local author Margaret Elysia Garcia will read her essay “In the Belly of —,” that’s included in the new collection Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 5:30 p.m. Barn Owl Books is located at 373 W. Main St.
She’s excited to speak about body image, love and anger — the themes of the anthology.
The editor and creator of the anthology is from Red Bluff and the majority of the authors are also from Northern California and Oregon, including Lidia Yuknavitch, Michelle Cruz Gonzales, Silvia Federici, Laurie Penny, Ariel Gore, Starhawk and Wendy-o-Matik.
Through personal essays and interviews about what it is like to live as a woman, “All of Me” includes vulnerable, painful truths and bold inspiration, according to the publishers.
The reviews since the book’s September release have all been positive: “Dani Burlison has achieved a beautifully intersectional and moving body of work in All Of Me. Each chapter is compelling and full of wisdom and should be required reading,” said one reviewer.
“I’m probably more excited to be included in this anthology more than any other I’ve ever been. There are feminist writers in this book that I grew up reading in high school and as a women’s studies major in college and to be included among them is a dream come true,” said Garcia.
The book signing and reading is free and open to the public with a Q & A to follow regarding the intersectional feminist topics that come up in the anthology.
